pirate belt buckle??

Hi everyone

I'm new to the forum and would firstly like to say hello!

Secondly I would like some information on something interesting my grandfather found on his land. As you can see from the picture, it suggests it could date back 250 years ago. The coordinates are somewhere in trinidad, yet we live in central scotland, not coastal either!

Does anyone out there know where this could have originated from?

what is scribed on it,, its hard to read
what ever it is, its a really cool find..

Need a god picture of the reverse of that buckle. I know the buckle experts here would want that. The construction of the buckle could help them in getting accurate.
Me? Looks modern, but then I'm no expert.

I took it with my phone so its not a great pic i'm afraid.

It says,

Lat de 11° 9' N long 60° 42 W

Anno domini 1759

When I next visit him, i'll get better photos
