I have used my Bounty Hunter Platinum for several weeks now and every time I use it I am more impressed. I have used it at several places where I have not found any older coins in a couple of years. By saying older, I mean wheats or newer silver. I have found 18 wheat pennies and a couple of days ago, I found a no date Buffalo nickel. I abslolutely love the light weight and responsive recovery speed. I have only used the stock 8 inch coil and some of the coins have been in the 7 inch deep range which is as deep as they seem to be. The detector is very accurate and it has the ability to distinguish between zincs and copper pennies. I have about 16 hours on the detector and the battery is still showing a full charge. As Woof said, the Platinum is one of the only detectors in the 300 dollar price range with a ground balance feature. I have very mineralized ground and this detector, even with the 8 inch concentric coil handles the bad ground very nicely. I still have my high end detector, but is sure nice to grab something so light. This detector is quite a bargain!

Yes, have had mine for some time now. The most bang for the buck !!! It's an awesome machine.
Good luck on your land fishing.

Yeah the platinum is probably the best detector in its price range. I loved mine, than I upgraded but sometimes I miss the lightweight.

The more I use it the more I love it. I'm new at this but have been detecting nonstop for about 4 months and the more experienced I get, the more I am impressed with it. Used to watch youtube videos and long for a T2 or F75 and while I'll eventually upgrade to have a choice of machines, there is no real need to-I can do everything I want with it. I even got it soaked in a creek, and was able to take the box apart, blow it dry with a fan, and have had no trouble whatsoever. My only question is whether I should get a DD coil for it or not.
