Yesterday I managed to track down an 1820s period site in the pine barrens. I wanted to find a place with sandy soil, the least amount of modern trash, and remote. The open sand was frozen but not frozen under the pine brush. The spoon I found has some interesting engraving that I've never soon on pewter spoons. Next time, when the sand thaws, I"ll play in the sand box!!!
