Please help me identify this antique knife's makers mark, year, type and value.

See the attached photos. When magnified the symbols don't look like numbers. The horizontal and vertical 1's or I's are composed of small arrows >>> and what looks like a two or 7 actually reminds me of a Japanese katakana Symbol for U, '7.

Knowing where it came from will help in IDing the knife.

But from what I can see it smells of Filipino styles in there. This could be a knife that a sailor would have picked up over seas during WWII, maybe even a ship made blade. A blade like this would prove to be impractical on some ones hip out camping or in war.

Now again without some of the background info on the blade this is merely speculation.

From a distance it appears to be similar to early 19th century hunting knives (think aristocratic English sport hunting), but upon closer inspection, it looks like a 1940s or later repro/knock-off blade made in India or the general area for the tourist trade. Since many of the tourists there would have been British at the time, the style may have sold well. Such items are usually made of soft and just plain bad Iron, so they aren't very useful. The strange carving/decoration on the blade, and crude copper/brass sheath elements with what appear to be soldered joints, as well as the butt of the handle, really raise some red flags for me.

Hopefully someone who knows more can offer a more promising evaluation.
