It has the general shape and form of a plummet, there are a lot of style variances in them. Being found along a river where there are many river worn stones would make it suspect to being a natural formation. I couldn't say for sure, but the flattened or oblong form does not look like the usual way the end knobs were styled?
 

I pretty much replied in a similar way. I had not seen one like "this".
Then she sent this photo... And I realized I'm a general newb.

It is flat as well..I've requested closeups of the neck and bottom.
