I went to the store yesterday and never looked at my change till I got home but I am sure glad I did before I threw it all in the change jar. I am not really sure other then its a dollar coin and is gold colored.

this is a gold colored one dollar coin--I but a roll a month at my bank,and pass them out as tips ect,ect
 

Wow! I have never seen this coin before. How long have they been in circulation?

They U.S. Mint is continuing to produce this series, but they will not be put into general circulation. Only sold to coin dealers and collectors. The 2012 series begins with Chester Arthur, but I don't know the release date. These coins were meant to replace the paper one dollar bill, but the experiment was a failure as most people refused to use them as intended and/or hoarded or kept them as "collectibles".
 

Went the way of the Susan B and Sacagawea.. Americans refuse to use dollar coinage
