Hello all! While I’m a somewhat regular contributor to the metal detecting forums here, I know little of Native artifacts and have a problem. As a young child I collected rocks. Any and all that caught my eye. By age 10 my interest turned to skateboards and music which left quite a few boxes and crates FULL of stuff to be forgotten in my mother’s barn. Beginning the cleanout process I found myself staring with interest at quite a few of my long forgotten specimens. (30-35 years) In one box I found this quartz point. The only obviously Native artifacts I’ve ever found were from Southern Texas and of flint where the napping is easily identifiable. I must admit I do not know enough about quartz to tell if this is a genuine artifact- or a trinket from a gift shop I put in my collection. I am perplexed in that there are zero visible toolmarks that I am aware of. This would have been recovered in the south east Pennsylvania area... or Central Vermont. A couple books on point and tool identification are inbound to me as I write this... but the suspense is killing me- anyone care to help out with a more informed point of view? Thanks for taking the time!
