Color banding ...If you take a perspective from above the original stone and just underneath the cortex. And the point is horizontal, That’s where the translucent stuff comes from in this case red..then as you go vertically down from the cortex you experience color changes especially in coral heads, and the material is opaque.. I coulda drawn a pic . faster, Lol...the whole point was heated in the preform stage. ..maybe a large flake or a biface I can’t tell in this caseWas that tip heat treated or just the color banding of the stone? What you think?
