After making the usual rounds close to home, I ventured out to a big block party sale and I think I hit a gold mine of goodies.

The whole garage was open and each box was fair game. Nobody wanted to dig so I pulled out my knife/flashlight had got to hunting. In the bottom of one box, I pulled out a taped up powder puff container and these pins were inside.

Most of the pins are self explanatory but some of them are still a mystery to me. I’d really like to know what that abstract “horse”is in black and white. Most of the pins are political/student protest based and really cool looking. The patches appear old and are still in the plastic sleeves.

The other find is a whole stack of old movie posters. Even though they are folded, they are in mint condition. I’ll post a thread on those once I get back from getting them appraised.

The best button I see is the Make Love Not War pin. That's usually $10-15. If you're looking to sell, throw it in a lot with Mary Poppins is a Junkie, Save Water, Stamp Out, Draft Beer, Socrates Eats Hemlock, Local Police Officer, Fck Censorship, Bring Back Paganism, Fun is Dead, and Stamp Out Reality- call it Lot 1960's Vietnam Era Protest Headshop Buttons Pins. You could even add the patches. I'd bet that would do pretty well.

The politic stuff looks pretty common and the advertising stuff is strickly .25 items. I've never seen the nuclear disposal button and it might be worth throwing up by itself. Lot of cause collectors out there and this one has nice graphics.

As you can tell I'm a button collector and have never found pins in the wild. I'm pretty jealous

Ive been debating to sell them as individuals or make a lot or two and see if they go faster. Thanks for the info. I’ll probabaly sell them in small lots

This is the first time I’ve ever seen protest buttons in the wild. Political/election buttons are a dime a dozen but I’ve never seen these, especially old ones from the 1960s. The garage they came out of was a treasure trove of goodies that I’m still processing

Nice assortment of buttons and crests. Congrats

I love the irony of the "F*CK Censorship" being censored.

I got some early 1970s NYC post-Stonewall gay rights pinbacks not too long ago. I’m waiting for fall when buyers return.

There’s a Facebook specifically for items like those- LGBTQ buttons and memorabilia

Always hungry buyers there and stonewall items and 70’s pins are especially in demand

Thanks for the tip!

I congratulate you on these findings. I would also like to have something similar in my collection, but I have only one political badge, which I got from my father.

You should list the auto patches internationally. Japanese are all over those.

Very cool finds! Amazing what turns up unexpectedly like that! Congratulations! Thanks for sharing with us.

Those are some neat pins. You did well.
