Found two different sites that state :

Pontiac was advertising how great there six cylinder engines were back in the 30's.

The other says 1950's

Exonumia says

1255. MI General Motors Advertising Medals, 1955. Two medals. 1) "Pontiac Chief of the Sixes" around bust of Chief Pontiac with feathers in his hair / "Product of General Motors" in wreath. 24 mm brass. 2) Interesting oblong medal for the 1955 motor show. "General Motors Motorama" around large "GM" / New model of car on modernistic pedestal, "1955 Chevrolet Pontiac Oldsmobile Buick Cadillac". 34 x 28 mm brass. XF-AU. $15.00-20.00+

That's great ~ thanks for the info!

Hey I just found one last night. It was about 4 inches deep. Cooter

I found one of those about ten yrs ago in Ohio.I thought it was cool at the time because I worked for G.M. at the time.Have since retired.

Cool digs!!
I found one too many years ago.
Also, it had special meaning to me as where I lived at the time
was about 2 miles from Apple Island in the middle of Orchard Lake in Oakland county Michigan and Chief Pontiac and his tribe inhabited that island back in the day.

Thanks for sharing!
BDoo :)
