Portsmouth Island anyone?

Hi, I have a friend that's interested in Portsmouth Island, NC.

I hear it's a State Park? It does not look like it is part of the national seashore, is this a go or no-go? Is a permit required?

Anyone got the scoop on this?

No go! It is part of the National Park Service. I have been there many times and wished I could detect. Even though the island is 26 miles long and only a couple of rangers stay there, it is not worth losing my machine and the fine that would be accessed. Great fishing though!
