A long time ago I bought a roll of pennies. In the roll was a couple IH. The one I'm curious about is this 1895 that has two indents that are identical in shape. One on each side of the penny. It also slightly Bowes the outside edge of the IH out as if it was struck that was. Here some not so great pictures and would love some opinions. I've ruled out someone damaging the coin because both sides are identically dented like a die strike problem. What do you guys think.

Could be wrong but I don't think it is an error but nice find.

Nhbandit I'll go along with that. I just find it strange the indents are exactly the same size and shape on both sides.

Ok I just figured out how to take much clearer pictures on my phone. Tell me if it still looks like coin damage. Just wishful thinking I found a strike error.

Be happy with the age and beauty of it alone. Congrats any Indian is a great find on any day

Don't get me wrong guys. I am excited. Just the thought of how long it's been around and where it's probably been is amazing. Just thought I found something unusual.

Sorry........have never seen a die error occur like that.

Neither have I but I've never seen Bigfoot either lol.

Definitely damage after minting, the coin was struck in a collar so there is no way the edge could be pushed out while striking.

I'm going to agree with damage after the mint...but hey you found an Indian head in a bank roll!!! Not too many people have done that in the past probably 75 years!

Looks like a failed attempt at putting a hole in the coin, still cool though!

Looks like someone used some kinda' tool on it; probably a hand tool, hence the failure to make a hole all the way through.

Oh well, still a nice coin to have.

Agree a real nice coin. Here's a couple more I have
