Im absolutely new to this but I believe a hammerstone or any kind of native tool that is made from rock other than chert or flint, develops pretty specific wear points that make it identifiable. Ill post a couple pics that might help demonstrate this.

Beat another rock with that rock, and thats what a hammer stone would look like.... Not sure about a meteorite, might have been sarcasm... What kind of places you been hunting..
