Possible Mayan Decorative weapon?

So, my grandma brought over a shell that she was given 20+ years ago by a friend. The friend acquired it at a small shop for $5. It looks to be mayan, however I don't know much about things of this sort. I mainly deal in books myself.

Looks like the inside of a conch shell. Maybe some souvenir from Mexico? I'm not thinking it's really ancient Mayan.
