Try the WD 40 thing Brandon...did you ever discover what that is?

gonna have to agree with dekalb, that looks like rust to me.

well, then it would be a big nock out, the place i have been hunting everything i find is very corroded for some reason

Check it with a magnet. If its magnetic, It isn't a large cent.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news......but A large cent will not rust, go back and detect somemore.........happy hunting!! But it is still a find.......we all have a great time wondering what will be in the next hole we dig...

well...........if it is a large cent, being as corroded as it is, i would buzz it with electrolysis and see what comes out. maybe you can get some kind of detail off of it.......and if not, at least you will know what it is.

crap................its magnetic

aaaahhhh! thats what i thought you were gonna say! that sucks. it was the right size. i found a similar item last year, and after much cleaning found that it wasnt what id hoped.better luck next time. ;)
