Possibly a slave ID on heavy chain?

Hi!
this was found in the woods on the property here in Georgia. We think it might be a slave Id but not sure. The chain is heavy and sort of gave me a chill to think someone was made to wear it. The tag itself is about 3+ inches in length. On one side it has the number 290 and the words JONES BROS. On the other side it has the mumber 290. Thanks for looking!

It's a cattle/livestock chain & tag. Not slave related at all.
