I only see the word "GILT" on the back (which will probably read "TREBLE GILT" or "RICH GILT" in full.) Can't make out any wording on the front.

I see the 3 REG. I don't know my buttons well though and I can't find online example.
Maybe homemade judging by the alignment of the 3 and REG

Nice button!

Nice button. My gut says 1812……but that could just be indigestion. I’ll check in a bit and see if I can find anything.

Found this button along with some pewter items and a 1782 Hibernia. Any Ideas, I believe it says 3 REG and put with a photo of a quarter for scale purposes. Thanks for your input.
That’s a very unique drooped wing eagle. Can’t find anything exact in Albert or tice, but think bazelon and Leigh have one (or close). 70-b4, New York regimental button made mid 1790s-1835, so if found in Charleston, very likely 1812 era

It's military for sure. Congrats! Seems to be one piece and flat. Nice. Try using filters and the like to see the rest of the wording.
