I find this stuff all over where I walk. Hampton and Allendale counties in South Carolina along the Savannah River areas. If anyone knows anything about these, age etc would be nice to hear. I have probably collected 50 pieces or so some just plain and some with scorch marks. These are probably the best ones I have as far as design and clearly decorated pieces. photo 4 has the top edge of the rim still showing.

It definitely varies from area to area but in se Kansas the last two would be somewhere in the area of 900 years old. People do pretty in depth analysis, marking type, temper, shape of the rim, and so on and can pretty well give a date, trick would be to find that info from sites in your area

Nice, I've only found 2 that had any type of design. Everything else was just plain.

1 and 3 look like net pressed
4 looks like cord marked
And 2 I’ve never seen before can’t help you on that one.

The second one reminds me of a rough tree bark design. Possibly a section of bark was pressed into the item. ?

nice.

there may be some books found at relic shows which may help you out.

I don't know much about pottery. I have only found a few small peices.

You can always look for Lloyd Schröders book on pottery. I have one but it’s a signed copy and I’m not willing to part with it
