Relic Hunting
There is a spot of woods in the middle of my town that has been detected for years. The pic is of what I found; 3 of the minnies were in upright stump-clods and nobody had thought to scan them. I ran the coil over one and got a hit that I was pretty sure was a bullet. I tried to make a live-dig video but failed. My hat is off to the folks on YouTube that can hold a camera or phone and detect and dig and talk... wears me out describing it. I guess I need a few dry runs to get the video-ing thing down.

Anyway.. I found a Sharps, a few 3-ringers, some buckshot (old or new I do not know), 3 primer caps, a modern penny and plenty of camp lead. I think others have cleaned out the obvious easy targets, shallow bullets and what not and I'm finding the targets that were too small or deep for their machines. There were fresh detetectorist's holes visible.

My finds:

Good hunt! Seems to always be a little left, which is good for us. Congratulations

Nice hunt my man. Way to go where the others won't!

Very nice hunt, congratulations! :occasion14:

Some more nice pieces of civil war lead found. Now,when I was hunting in Virginia years ago I dug three smaller lead balls which you are describing as buckshot and looked up armament us during the civil war.And I found out that those small balls were packed with the wadding along with a large ball and when fired that gave quite a spread of lead.

That's a Great Day of Finds in my book.
Thanks for posting.

Those root balls always pay off! Fantastic hunt!
