Shortly after my last last post back at the end of July 2021 I had an injury that kept me from going out until recently. In that post, I mentioned that last nine coins I had found (at that time) were all pre-1900. They were in order, 1881 Indian Head, 1863 Indian Head, 1864 Indian Head bronze variety, 1877-S dime, 1864 Indian Head copper nickel variety, 1838 large cent, 1876 Indian Head, 1851 large cent and an 1897 Indian Head,
On October 8, 2021, I had a follow up doctors appointment for my injury and since the office is right next to my favorite hunting spot, see previous paragraph for why, I figured I would hit the spot since I was feeling better after my appointment. No sooner did I turn my detector on, balance it and set it on the ground and I got an 1887 Indian Head. Its going to be a good hunt. WRONG!. That was the only coin I found for the rest of the day.
So due to some crappy weather over the next few days and other things going on, I did not get out again until October 22, 2021 and this is where my streak ends. First coin I dug up is a 1901 Indian Head. Well, at least I made 10 pre-1900 coins in a row. Well, a few feet away, another Indian Head. This time its an 1872 shallow N type. Back on the streak! Fill in my plug, and right next to it is another Indian Head. Another 1901 Indian Head. Well, that second streak didn't last very long.
So the next day, October 23, 2021, I got out of work early, and so I decided to go out again. First coin was a 1900 nickel, then two clad dimes and a 1926 nickel.
So now I am trying to get back on the pre-1900 streak.
Thanks for looking.
Anthony
