I didn't find this today but a while back in the woods next to an old chateau (12th/13th century)...
I'm just trying to play catch-up

found with my old Tesoro µMax that I've used since 1995

Welcome to T-net.

Don't recall many or any posters from your neck of the woods.

Cool find, and I don't doubt your words at ll, just curious how you know it is "pre roman ?

Rick

WOW is that picture BIG

Might be pretty difficult to determine age - what's your best guess as to the material ? bronze , copper , iron ?

Is it Bronze?

Hard to date this, it's not like any Celtic pieces we get in the UK.

It's sexy, yeah baby, yeah.

sorry about the pic size I'll resize them from now on...

I'm just guessing about the pre-roman date
because from what I've seen is that roman small statues
tend to be very stylized .. gods, deities, small animals ...
plus in this region there is quite a bit of Celtic/Gaulois stuff that I find
coins, fibulas...

I've been detecting since the mid 90's and have boxes and boxes of "not treasure - not junk"

I'm off to get some Sunday detecting in ...

cheers everyone
