Preserving brass - what's best?
Not long ago I found this brass rosette here in SE Va. I was rearranging my finds the other day (actually my wife told me to scale back some of the display) and noticed that the piece now has a grainy surface almost as if it had a crystalized surface. So I was wondering what would be the best way to preserve brass. Soaking in olive oil? Demineralize water? I surely don't want to mess up a find. Any help greatly appreciated!
