Hey everyone - I got to go back to the site where I found the half dime back in January. Weather could not have been better in central IL and the timing was perfect. Another few days and the grass/plants would have been too tall to hunt in. Not only did we hunt for about 5 hours but also explored the county and found some really old cemeteries, an old boarded up train depot, and a friendly herd of buffalo. Finds were great since I was saying I have not found any V nickels yet. Getting two was a treat. 1901 and a crusty 1897. Some wheaties, 1919, 1926 and a 1928. A worn out barber dime. I opened up the smart find hoping for gold and ended up with a nice bunch of old brooches. One of the last targets was a dead on quarter at 6 inches which ended up being a cool token. The ad I found for the Elk Billiard Room is from a 1908 Champaign directory but the first mention I can find of the company is 1900. Funniest find was the 3 Merry Widows tin that I thought was makeup but turns out it was a thick rubber condom from 1920-1930. Last but not least brought 6 morel mushrooms home for nice cooking'. Enjoy the pictures!
