Pro-Swing 45 Removing Strut

Hi, I am trying to detach the Pro-Swing 45 J-strut so that I can do some harness adjustments. I have not been about to get the top portion of the strut to detach from the harness strap. Is there a trick to doing this, or is it simply a matter of pulling hard to get the strut to detach from the harness?
