Probable Cache. I visited the place. Long Island, NY. Lot's of trash.
Ok. Long story short, a miser named Samuel J. Jones, grandson of a US Supreme Court Justice was murdered in 1873 in South Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY. The robbers got away with a watch, one silver dollar and not much else. They left 10,000 K in savings bonds in the closet. No other coin was mentioned. My belief is that because of this, there is a high probability of a cache there. I'm sharing because I don't have the time, energy or guts to keep going back to the place. I went there for an hour or two last weekend and there were tons of the tops to the old style cans EVERYWHERE. Not the pull tabs, but the tops, and they all rang up like silver. Terrible. If you got the time and energy to figure it out and hunt it, here are the articles. If you make a find, post it and give me some credit for the research! Maybe throw me one of the nicer coins? If you need any help finding the spot, pm me. I'll help you find the place. Historic Mapworks, the second article and google earth or maps.live are the biggest help in finding the spot.

P.S. The well is gone, the foundation is gone, but I did find what might be remnants of the foundation. Chunks of broken up concrete that looked quite old were laying around all over the place.
