Sorry, don't know, but I'd bet you could get something real inexpensive with a USB connection directly to an android phone or tablet which is quite portable.
I suggest you take a look at allelectronics.com this is a surplus place with lots of great stuff real inexpensive inclusing cameras for special applications. Otherwise,
how about the kind you would use to look into underground tanks-Home Depot might even have them. Good Luck and welcome to tnet

That would be an interesting concept to coin hunting although I don't think it will add a lot. Maybe dig the plug and then run the camera down in the hole and check to see the silver.

Sounds like you need very specialized gear. Try researching plumbers snake cameras.

The problem you would encounter if trying to probe would be dirt covering lens. The ridgid see snake is affordable @ around 150.00 however you cant probe with it,you can see into small spaces.

Ridgid and spartan both make some nice cameras but can be very pricey. The see snake has a bigger brother with more features but its around 750.00 and I cant remember its name.

I also think harbour freight carries a see snake type camera.Milwaukee also has some kind of similar camera.

I own the ridgid and have for yrs it works well and has been dependable despite being abused some.

Do you have a laptop? Below is a link to the cheapest you'll likely find. Plugs into the USB port and has it's own LED collar for illumination.

Waterproof and has 59" of cable. $21.99

Waterproof Pipe Snake Bore Scope Camera with Super Bright LED and Head Lights - USD $ 21.99

NOTE - I have not seen one of these but I purchased something else (a car 12v plug for a USB adapter) and it was impressive for the $2.49 price tag and has worked several years. At least I can say they exist and do ship product.

I have sent for the snake bore scope camera, still waiting for it to arrive.

What you need is an endoscope that plugs directly into your Android phone. I got one and it is worth every penny, which was like $24.00, btw. Search Amazon for "bluefire android endoscope" to see what I'm talking about.

The camera is only 7mm wide and the app that runs it is free from the Android app store. It's called "Camera Fi".

The resolution is very clear and it even magnifies a little.

You can watch the thing as it descends down into a hole by looking at your Android device. You can also take a snapshot of what you see or you can take a video of the whole thing to be played back at a later time.

You can select the length of cable to get with it. I got the 3 meter (15 foot) cable.

I use it when I'm out gold panning. I send it down in the cracks of the bedrock to check for gold nuggets that have fallen through.

Oh, did I mention that it's waterproof?

And it has 6 LEDs at the end of the camera that you can dim or brighten with a little thumbwheel located on the cord.

I've seen them at Wal-Mart in the automotive area. Around $80.

I have a waterproof camera that looks like a small fish and 50 feet of cable, uses a small 12 volt battery mounted under a 7 inch monitor. I need to get a pole for it otherwise I can only dangle the camera cable by hand. The poles are under $50, if that much. Not sure if they telescope? I think its called an Aquaview, used by fishermen.

Got the HF one for a last minute project. Works great! Has a screen built in so no tripping over USB cables etc. Comes with a little mirror and a couple hooks. You can turn the light intensity up n down. And you can flip the image so no matter what angle the cam is it's upright on the screen. Great for looking inside walls when doing building searches. The carry case fits nice in a small back pack. I think they're on sale now for $49 and if you get the coupon 20% off.

Whoops ! For some reason whenever I hear endoscope my mind rolls off the curb and I see a proctologist with a glove & a scope.:laughing7: (yeah I know you want to say it go ahead! "That boogeyman is one messed up dude!:tongue3:)

That's a good price if the resolution is any good. But there you go again cables, installing drivers, having to drag your laptop or tablet in the field. Why not all self contained? :icon_thumleft: One thing I thought was a plus was the shaft can be bent & it'll hold it's shape, so you can poke it through a ceiling at a 90 and look around. If you have just a cable you can only dangle it or have to tape it to some sort of stick.

Forgot on my earlier post if you absolutely feel the need to drag your laptop in the field, they include a video cable. Just looked again their site says $79, but I just got a coupon sheet with it for $49. + 20% off $40.:icon_thumleft::icon_thumleft:

Hey AARC Thanks for the link! If you get one give a yell, be interesting to see what you think!

Have you looked at the rod sets for pulling wiring? Was gonna buy a set, but the cable turned me on to the one at Harbor Freight. Dude saved me $39 and it's exactly like the more expensive one at Depot.
