Was trying to research the production date on this brass water meter cover and have not had much luck. Have seen many like it and different age ranges . But thinking maybe the number might make quite a bit of difference in the year of production. 3" across

Worthington-Gamon "Watchdog" was in use from the 1920's to the 1950's.

The number stamped on it would be the meter number from the water works. I doubt it will be traceable at this point though.

Thanks. Gamon merged w/Worthington in 1933.




These water meters were stamped and numbered during production. This is why I am thinking the number if at all traceable would show about what year it was produced.

I do have a span of years that it could have been produced, but since company I'm supposing is no longer in business the number on this meter lid would not be traceable anymore. Though, since these were individually stamped in progression it would at one point of had a date of production.
