I braved the cold and took advantage of a break in the snow today and went over my own back yard for 45 minutes or so and came up with some Wheats (1935, 46, 50 and 50D), a 1940 Canadian Cent, and a 1995 Memorial Cent as well. Wasn't too bad as I'd already detected the backyard but not too intensively. The older coins were all around 4 inches down or so.

I bet theres silver there somewhere. Keep digging

Nice finds Dr.D! Especially for out the back door. The best discriminator is a shovel. HH, Mike

Good day; finish yours and make your way around the neighborhood!

Wheaties in the back yard where the kids played. Silver in the front yard where the grown-ups played. That's how my yards are anyway. GL with your's.

Sounds like good advice! Now go find that silver! ;)

Back in late December I pulled two silver dimes (1945D and 1946) along with some wheaties from the same hole in my back yard as well. Haven't had a chance to check the front yet. Also got a bunch of other coins (probably 10 to 15 wheats) as well as a token commemorating the 50th anniversary of Packard (1899 to 1949 I believe). I'll have to post some pics when I get a digital camera. I just moved into my house in late October and hadn't gotten to my own yard until December! I've been busy, what can I say...I figured it was time to get my priorities in order. Hopefully I'll pull some more silver from the front yard and then it's on the the neighbors! The next door neighbors have an old clothes line that's just begging to be searched!

Wow, sounds like you got that Whites a smoking. Nice finds, I'd go back in that yard, really slow down, and walk that yard closely. Walk it north and south, east and west and then X it. Also if you have some tile flags, use them to track your walking pattern. This also works good for any location. Try different modes on your XLT.

P.S,
I use a ACE 250, but have owned a Whites XLT for many years and have had great success with it.

Good Luck
