Re: Looking at purchasing a Explorer se

Are you looking to buy new or used? I would recommend buying an E-Trac over the SE Pro... that said, I do have an SE Pro that I am selling. It has a season of use, but is in great condition. Comes with a new Minelab carrying bag, box and all the stuff that was in the box when I got it (manuals, charger, battery packs, etc..). Does not come with headphones. Make me an offer.

Re: Looking at purchasing a Explorer se

I would rather invest in a E-Trac. But the Explorer SE is also an very good detector.

Re: Looking at purchasing a Explorer se

I have always been a Whites Man but i just put my order in for the E-Trac,
Hope it's what it says it is and that it "goes deeper"
Now to learn it ,First thing is to get some nice weather ;D ;D

Re: Looking at purchasing a Explorer se

I like my SE one of the best machines ive used. The Etrac is a little pricy, but they made some well needed improvements that i wished i had... ie, both the digital and smartscreen combined, targets line up much better on the screen, inverting the cond and Ferr sounds, dual sensitivty reading so you know what the machine would recommend. As far as the depth.... i still think that will depend on the person using either machine.

Can you explain your thoughts on this? I didn't think there was a sound inversion. Are you referring to the Smartfind graph and how it's laid out? They did a lot more than just move the scales around... the ferrous numbers are now normalized to the FE12 line for most targets (that's all I'll say for now since it's midnight and I'm tired :) )

Re: Looking at purchasing a Explorer se (Got it today)

Thanks Brett. Got here in two days. Looking forward to learning SE.

The E-trac has ferrous or conduct sound response inversion. It inverts the tone response. It affects only target tone (pitch) response. Its interesting. I play with it on the emulator and try to think how it might help me. When in ferrous tones, the machine responds in highest pitches to iron, lowest pitches on higher conducting stuff. Silver sounds like nails. Lead and alum you wont see much difference because its in the middle of conductivity scales. I'm still thinking of how this could help me. Anyway, with computers, its easy to do. Its one of many reasons why the E-trac is so expensive.
