Since I have been captivated buy the post in this forum I have seen some very beautiful frames by many members and I to plan on displaying my finds once I find them (lol) I was wondering what do you use to attach the points to the felt or back board that does not hurt the artifact?? Thanks for any input in advance. HH JYD.

The frames I use have a thick foam with a thin piece of red, or black foam on top. When you put your artifacts in and close the lid and snap it. It presses the artifact against the glass and the foam ,holding them in place. The really thin points will try to slide around , so I roll up a little piece of Scotch tape and stick it to the back of the Artifact, and the foam. John

Thank you Flintfinder of Mo.

JYD, Somewhere on the back pages of this thread is my post of how I set up my frames. I had used Riker cases and did not like the looks of the foam like stuff in them, I then had cut cardboard to size, then using burlap material, wrapped & glued in place to the cardboard, making sure it fit snugly into the frame. Then using a drop of Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue (water soluble), to the back of each artifact pressing firmly to the material. I did this over a year ago, and the artifacts are still holding firmly as my cases are standing up.

This is how I did mine, but others will have their own techniques.

 RR

Hey Junkyard Dog! Just keep looking and you will have a collection before you know it. I use foam backing with a red fabric overlay. The red fabric seems to bring the colors out in artifacts. I use a clear water soluble glue called "Tacky glue". You can get it in the crafts department at your local Wal-mart. I use the glue to adhere the fabric to the foam backing and then to glue the artifacts to the foam/fabric board. The glue does not hurt the artifacts at all. I have switched my points around in different display cases. It is pretty easy to pull them off the backing. All you have to do then is wash them with warm water and the glue comes right off. I have some cases that I haven't changed in a few years. The glue is still holding the artifacts in place. You should see the looks I get from some of the women when I ask for a bottle of tacky glue and 2 yards of red fabric! ;D

Good luck!

Here are a few of my frames that I used the tacky glue on and red fabric on.

Flintfinder, River Rat and Adena_Man thanks for the great ideas and reply's, cant wait to get out and find some more artifacts so I can get a display goin. Wish you all good luck on your hunting. JYD

Please don't use glue. I saw a guy who had fould frames he liked for single and multi points. he poked 2-4 holes on either side of a given point and held them in place with brass or copper wire. I use what flintfinder uses. It is cardboard fram with a poliester fiber flocking and you can add a colorful peice of felt and just place you points in a shape them put on the glass part thus holding them in they use 4 lond pins near the corners to hold it togather. Now I will give my seceret that I am trying to find. Old printers type trays have many little boxes for all the different letteres of a certain typeface. many people sell just the trays. I want get a couple one for a coffee table. I would put felt in all the boxes and them add a sheet of glass. Then find a builder to make a coffee table bottom for me. Oh well there is one of mysecrets. But I know I can trust you guys. We ae re all fellow hunters.
Good Luck

Just to clarify the type of glue I was talking about Coalfire. It is a water-based fabric glue that comes off artifacts completely when washed in warm water. I'm definitely not advocating the use of crazy glue, model glue, gorilla glue, or any kind of epoxy. These are all chemical-based and are a big no-no. Just throwing in another option for displaying artifacts...

When I put together a good display I take a piece of carpet padding and put a light blue fabric over the top...the display cases that I use are about 3/4 of an inch inside dimensions. The carpet padding is firm enough that I don't have the slippage that someone else mentioned with mythinner pieces...
