Question on a coin

Are canadain quarters silver? The reason I ask is I found one about four inches down and it wasn't tarished like the american clad it's a 1978 coin.

I think there silver went out the same time ours did 1965

If in doubt, stick it to a magnet, Pure nickel is magnetic.

Most Canadian coins now seem to be magnetic, and they usually show/sound completely different than American coins..
