Question on the type of mineral

Was wondering if anyone has seen this type of rock/mineral before. Not sure what it is, it's a very dark black, very heavy, seems to have some type of crystalline structure.

Looks like slag

Yes, I had the impression it could be something of sorts. I found it very deep in the field, nowhere near any roads. But it could very well brought there to level the ground. Thanks

Doesn't look like slag to me. Ontario or Quebec? Both have uranium deposits.

I don't think it's slag , not saying I know what it is but you have peaked my curiosity for sure. I like it..

Uranium is dark black and has a cubic habit, but about the only thing I can eliminate is coal from the pics. Look up the area it was. Any magnetism?

In addition to slag it could possibly be black sphalerite or cassiterite. If I name every black mineral I will eventually be right. Google black minerals. :dontknow:

Yes, there are a zillion black semi metallic and metallic minerals.
