I was hunting with a girl I met last weekend on the Mendota Beach in Madison. She had a Bounty Hunter and said she never found anything other than a few coins over the past year. And never any jewelry. Now I thought this was really strange since I always find jewerly . I had hunted that beach and park for about two hours before running into her. I had already found about 11.00 in change, several peices of jewelry, a few pairs of sunglasses, toys ,a huge magnet and about four baits.None of these finds were over two inches deep in the sand . When I showed her my finds, she couldnt believe it as she hunts this same area every week.
I watched her hunt a little bit and could see that her detector was beeping when the upper left hand side of the coil hit something. Then I would go over the same spot and pinpoint it for her. If she waived the coil over it,it wouldnt beep until it hit that spot . I could see that she was swinging way to fast....like she was in a race . When it signaled...she still swung fast over the spot and then couldnt get the spot to beep again, so she would move on. SLOW DOWN. Even Cheyenne came over and said,Mama she is swinging too fast.
I told her she needed to have her coil tested out or buy a new one. I know on these inexpensive machines, its probally better to just upgrade, but frankly there are alot of folks out there that cant afford to do that.So as long as you know your machine and what its doing, learn how to pinpoint with that coil adjustment .Put those coins or different objects on the ground and practice waiving the coil over them. See where it hits on your machine then remember that. Bury the coin and mark it with a popsicle stick and do the same test. That way you arent going to be digging wider holes than you need.
