While visiting my mother not too long ago she gave me a small metal box with what was left of my father's finds from 1982-1987. Not much. A few items that were really cool. There were two buttons that I am curious about. I am not sure of all the places he hunted but I do know the general area he lived in. Please help me if you can. The coat of arms button used to have writing on the banner at the bottom but it is worn off.

The eagle button is not a military button, but a civilian clothing button modeled on the U.S. Army "Great Seal" general service button, which was introduced in 1902 and remains in use today.

The button with a coat of arms appears to be a modern "blazer" button made for use on civilian coats, jackets, sweaters, etc. These often have coats of arms designs, and the self-shank back is also typical.
