Hello, today i went to one of my pick-up banks and got $180 in dimes, cuz i cant locate halves at the moment, and 5 of the 36 roll were hand wrapped. Unfortunately, they were all skunks! But, i noticed that the 5 hand wrapped rolls were all 1997 & before. These looked like very old wrappers, and there were some magnificently bright and shiny older dimes, so I'm guessing these were sitting around for quite some while at either the bank, or in some company's safe. Although there were no silvers, i was just wondering if i should go back and buy up all of the other hand wrapped dimes, since there may be solid rolls of silver, or just the fact that they haven't been CRH'ed in a while, so there is more of a chance that there is silver hiding away in them? Also, should i buy up all of the hand wrapped coin there just in case someone traded in some old rolls of other coin too? Thanks, CHAINCHOMP. :)

Re: QUICK!!! HELP!!!

The odds of finding silver in them should be slightly higher. Quarters should be much higher as this was before the State series started. Cents would have a much higher % of copper. :dontknow:

Re: QUICK!!! HELP!!!

The only way to be sure is to buy everything.

Re: QUICK!!! HELP!!!

Odds are, these were sitting in someone's "change jar" for years. Both my parents and grandparents did this. All change received during the day would go into the jar. Every day, for years on end. At times, the coins would be dumped out, rolled, then back into the closet only to be cashed in when a little extra cash was needed or it began to take up too much space.

As for buying the rest of the rolls, there is no way of knowing - or even guessing for that matter - of whether or not there is silver to be found. My family pulled all the silver and wheaties before the change ever made its way into the jar. Not everyone did this. There is only one way to find out. Good luck!

Re: QUICK!!! HELP!!!

Thank you guys for your input. Tomorrow i will buy that bank out! I will search every nook and cranny of that banks vault! By the way, this bank has always seemed kind of suspicious, cuz I've gotten solid rolls of things from there, but never anything worth much more than face. :laughing9: (once for some reason i got a solid roll of circulated Michigan Denver mint state quarters, in a flat wrapper.) So, maybe this time it will be a solid roll of silver! ;D I will post what I get tomorrow! :headbang: -Piece y'all, CC & HH

Re: QUICK!!! HELP!!!

Sorry, but i was just wondering, so do you guys think i should buy all of the rolls of dimes, cents, or quarters since right now i am VERY limited on money??? ???

Seriously, people don't mind helping other out on this forum, but these things are really your call. If you don't have any money, don't get them. If you have money and you want to take a chance, go get them. It shouldn't take a concensus from the forum for you to makeup your mind. Remember, the coins are still legal currency and you can go spend them on your bills/food/etc after you have searched. I am not trying to be rude, but asking these types of questions gets a bit silly after a while.

Chainchomp, CC? ::)

I was thinking the same thing. My opinion is that it's CC or someone intentionally trying to act like CC.

oh, sorry, is there already someone on this forum named CC? :P Fine with me, so instead i meant CHAINCHOMP. Well, anyway, i went back to that bank and bought another $170 in dimes, scoring 26 CWR, and 8 bank rolls! 11 of the 26 rolls are definitely from the same batch, seeing as they have the persons account # on them, 10 are just average rolls, most of which i think tellers rolled from their drawers, and then the other 5 looking like really old wrappers, that have been sitting around for quite a while. Well, I'll be opening a few roll here and there, so wish me luck, and i will post the results! HH, CHAINCHOMP. ;D

Actually, i was asking this because i know that there are a lot of people on this forum, and many of them are very professional about what they search, and i was just wondering their opinions on what rolls would probably produce more keepers, if all of them were from the mid-90's.

Always good to have a loyal bank. :hello2:

Well, i decided to open 11 rolls now, but only the BWR, and other mixed wrappers not from the same batch as yesterday, cuz i want to save those for later, so i have something to look forward to. Well, anyway, about the 3rd, or 4th roll in out pops a silver 1960 dime! :hello2: This my not be a large celebration for most of you, but I'm excited to add more silver to my stash, even if it's in small amounts. I also got a dime that looks errored, cuz some of the rim (about 50%) & some of the details on the dime are missing. Tell me what you think it could be, if you have any ideas? ??? None the less, i hope all of the rolls are at least okay, and produce some silver. Thanks -CHAINCHOMP
Sorry, don't know how to downsize the pic, if you know how please tell me.
