Quick hunt at new cellar site produces 13 buttons and a few other relics..

I stumbled upon a small cellar hole and in a quick 40 minute hunt popped 13 buttons, mostly pewter, a broken shoe buckle, thimble and a few other relics. I did find i nice little roundball still encased in the wood from the tree it hit.. the best find of the day was the fancy silver plated button..

It is really small.. in fact.. we have walked by it a bunch of times and missed it!!!! I found it at the end of the hunt... about 10 minutes before I was suppose to be at easter dinner!! I called to see if dinner was ready and ... by pure luck.. everyone was running late so I dug it another 1/2 hour before I had to go... it is in a spot that makes NO sense at all!!!

Thanks!! No.. the "family trash pit" day got postponed... we didn;t have enough time after it stopped raining to get there and dig before Easter Dinner at my Moms.. I just popped out for a short dig.. glad I did!!!!

It is heavy silver plate... held up well in the ground... the back is unplated.. by far the best ornate flat/dandy button I have found!!

I think it is just a pendant... there isn't anything on it.. smooth on both sides but I will double check.. everything form this spot is early 1800s/late 1700s... soo a wax seal would be outstanding!!! and maybe a coin or two!!! ;-)
