I didn’t have much time after work on Friday but I told my wife I was going to stop at a place I have been researching to check it out. I got to the spot and didn’t waste any time but the first couple of decent signals were 6-7 inches down and with the ground like concrete it was going to have to be another time, for that signal.I decided to move where there were some bigger trees with shade and the grass was greener and it paid off. I pulled the 3 clads one after another. Then I got a 40s signal? I thought this is either gold or some kind of foil. To my surprise it was a heart shaped charm. Not sure if its gold or not maybe just plated but I will test it later. Then I moved on next to a larger tree. I circled it nothing so I started a line towards the next old tree. About 6 feet from the tree I had just circled I got a 76-78 signal sometimes bouncing to 80. Probably a bottle cap I thought but there had been no signals for a while and it was a new spot. Sure glad I did because 4-5 inches down was an 1898 Barber dime. I first saw the one dime and thought wow it could be either a Barber or a Seated dime and when I flipped it over the first was caked in such a way that I thought it was Seated. I didn’t want to scratch it and had no water in my hurry to get out hunting so I had to wait. I got it home and the dried dirt had started to flake off and the date was revealed?a Barber. Very happy!
