This oval brass tag looks like it was affixed to something. The back is blank. Here are other items found along with it.

I have tried researching it and reached out to the local library, but so far nothing about “R.I. BUS CO”!

I found a 1945 bus schedule by the R.I. Bus Co. on eBay. I guess that helps to date your item, to a degree.
