I found this awhile ago, but thought I'd share it just cause it's cold and white outside and I can't go out and play in the dirt. Dug near Jetersville, VA, it's a N. M. I. school button. The NMI is pretty hard to make out due to the ground action on the button, but Albert lists it as Nansemond Military Institute, I saw another internet site attributing it to Norfolk Male Academy. It has a Wm Smith & Company New York backmark and was found with another Virginia state seal button and a coffee can full of Civil War bullets along Lee's retreat route. button.webp

Anyone out here ever had one of these? I've never seen one for sale before, that that doesn't mean much as I don't go looking for the Civil War buttons usually.

Great Find I have tracked down many odd buttons at this guys site , if you look around the site he has sections on all aspects of relics He seems to be the authority The Civil War Relicman, Harry Ridgeway Good Luck

That's the site I got the second reference from, thanks.
