I found this on my last hunt with D-Dub but forgot to post it. Rang in like a quarter on the E-Trac. Any idea as to the age of this thing, and its origin? Could it be some sort of a Navy pin? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals!

As you can see, there are no markings on it at all. I wonder if the anchor was plated? :icon_scratch:

Thanks to DCMatt and further research, I have found a rare Japanese Imperial Navy Bombardment Badge from WWII!

Hell yeah!

That's a great find, just imagine all the history behind that!

That is a nice find L4S, congrats! So is the anchor gold and the shells copper?

Banner Find........

I voted BANNER on the other post about this. WTG. Warmer temps coming Thurs they say!!!! :icon_sunny:

It looks to me that the anchor is gold, and the artillery shells are either brass or copper. I can't believe I thought this was a piece of JUNK Jewelry when I found it. It was just in the back of my mind the past few days and decided to post it in the What is it forum. Sure glad I did.

Thanks everyone for voting Banner, don't think I'll get it though unless I can prove how rare it actually is. Gonna have to do some extensive research to see how many were rewarded. Not that many pics of it and hits on google though. Maybe a good sign. :read2:

Holy Moly Guys! I can't believe I made banner. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I still am so freakin excited. I can't believe I thought this was a piece of junk/costume jewelry at first. But then again it seemed too heavy and old. What a GREAT piece of history to be recovered in our area. ;D

Congrats on making the banner! Glad you followed up on figuring out what it was that you had there.

Wow! Congratulations on a great find and for making the banner! I'm not much of a relic guy but sometimes you guys find things that really catch my attention!

Great find

It didn't pay for me today, putting up with the weather. I only found a cruddy pocket anemometer, that's right it was a pocket anemometer.

Congrats on makin the banner!!!

congrats!!! I swung for about 45min tonight and the only thing I found was can slaw, a 50's clorox bottle "rust-proof" cap, and an unidentified tag (That I thought was a half dollar =( ) The tag says COM and then SO below it with a hole punched through the top. The letters are uneven and seem to be stamped individually.. I have no clue. Not a banner find, thats for sure :D

Yeah buddy, banners it is then!

Congrats!
