after a year of use, I can't get this thing to work properly. seems only the left side of the coil is working (making for some unbelievable pinpointing), and the threshold changes whenever a wave washes over the unit. I run it a barey audible threshold, standard discrimination, and about 2 on the elimination dial. I am not hunting mineralized areas.

It seems to be falsing a lot, and when a wave goes over the coil many times I get a long drawn out target type sound. If I change to discreet mode, I hear the "tick" it's supposed to make but then it keeps on "ticking" after being moved away from the target or even if I hold the coil out of the water pointed at the air.

There is no water in the case, the divers mask is clear as it was when it was brand new. Any ideas? :icon_scratch:

Yeh, Sounds like a stuffed coil, Cable or cable connector. Send er back to Garrett.

Better contact Sue or Melinda at Garrett 1-800-527-4011. They are great to deal with and will look after you.

wave noise is normal. I don't know about the rest of your problems. I had a bad coil. sent it back and they replaced it.

What they said. Monty

IMHO the Sea Hunter is the most under rated water detector on the market and I have a Infinium, Excal 2, and an Excal 1000 to compare it to. Granted that if yours is not working properly that would be a problem. SEND IT IN TO GET IT REPAIRED. It is simple to use, Deep and finds stuff got thsis yesterday with the SH 14K 6 g

sounds just like the trouble with my Infinium. Garrett will repair the machine but they need to get a handle on quality control.........

I had one but traded it off as most of my hunting is done around area lakes. The guy I traded it to wanted it for salt water hunting. I never had a problem with it at all. You can get the cover too tight and pinch the rubber seal. But it sounds more like a leaking coil wire to me. Monty

Sounds like a coil problem and it should go back to Garrett for repair!

They will make it right for you!!!

Thanks!
