Can Reales be as small as a penny, and are they always silver, and could they be malleable or are they solid? Thanks...

Yes, they can be small as a penny, there are 1/2, 1?, 2, 4, and of course 8s, all reales. And there is what is called a maravide, and it is copper. There is also smaller denominations of cob gold, escudos, the same as silver cobs. As far as maleable, they shouldnt be too maleable. You arent beating on them right?

Best of all they can be Gold!! The cob's are hand hammered and have a unique shape however a Royal was made perfectly round for royalty. Also they were cut up into pie pieces in order to make change, thus I think piece of eight came from. Did you find one!!!! Hope so!!! P.S. here comes another big mid week storm ! Got some great stuff to post but my camera broke, getting a new one soon!
