Last Sunday back to one of my most favorite sites to hunt. An incredible amount of history to this land. It's the same site I dug the sword guard a few weeks back. I have recently invited sscindercoop along and it's where he dug his very first USA. Happy he dug that button. Swear I've never seen someone so happy. Anyways my best find for the day was the pipe. Coop and I both agree it's a trade tobacco pipe. Several prominent upper echelon Mohawk leaders lived near this site and we believe a pipe of this type would have been a gift to such leaders. Seems to be a pewter/lead type metal. The bowl has an octagon style to it and I think the ring in the middle would act like a heat sink. I've tried to find info on a relic of this type but have come up with very little. If anyone can tell me anything about it please please let me know. Merry Christmas and HH in 2013 !
