Hit one of my spots in WV today and found a few keepers. After snow, hail , and rain yesterday today warmed up to the lower 60's, great day for hunting. I can't take all the credit for the group pics, my dad found a point and a scraper himself. The small chalcedony point is uniface, too bad about the ear.

We were about done and I made one more quick walk through an area we had already hunted. In between our footprints under a clump of grass I found my best point of the day that we had both missed earlier. HH

They are all great finds! Congrats! However I do like the white quartz uniface one the best. Way to go! :icon_thumright:

Nice artifact finds. Looks like you found a good bit of everything. Are those points Hopewell/Adena?

Yesterday was definitely a weird day...as you said, we had a little bit of every type of weather. You did better than I did over the border. I found a few brokes and some low-end scrapers. Will post when I get a chance. Nice finds. :icon_thumright:

Brother.... its great to see your fantastic finds!!! That was a great day that you guys had and I am very happy (as I know you are) that you went in for that final loop :icon_thumleft: Great stuff! Stay safe my friend!

Thanks, there is an Adena stuff in this multicomponent field, pretty scarce though. I'm pretty sure the majority of these are archaic in age. That black corner notch that looks Hopewell like is kind of weird, one side looks woodland the other looks archaic. Not sure about that one. Appreciate the comments.

Thanks Hutch, man this weather lately has been strange. It's 84 right now, tomorrow it's supposed to rain / ice and drop into the 40's again. Looking foward to seeing some of your Pa. finds.

Great hunt! Uniface Chalcedony? very cool. Thanks for the view.

Appreciate the comments man, yeah it's a pretty unusual little point imo. Made on a chalcedony flake with no retouch on the flip side.

Great points, looks like some Kanawha Chert is in the mix.

Lyman

Yes sir, good ol' WV Kanawha chert. The grayish material is most likely Hillsdale from Greenbrier county, about 15 miles from this spot. It can range in color from a charcoal colored grey to a light cream colored grey. Thanks Lyman

Where can I look for this hillsdale material? Or any flint in the area. I live in greenbrier county.

Got me all excited thinking he was back but if you notice this thread is from 2011. I have no idea where he went and I don’t believe he posts here anymore
