that set of pictures is a tad bit confusing. Is it two pieces or one? some better images might be helpful. Is that a picture of the reverse in the second image? I think it is plastic. A ruby of that size would be set in gold and have immense value.

It must be an add-on reflector for car/truck...especially with the backing.

They came is all sizes and other colors. There are nickel size ones that were used to hold license plates on, too

I ve found many of those they are reflectors .One day you will find your jewel
