Nice!

I found an 1840-o and it came out of the ground looking brand new, much like that one.

Took it to a coin shop (well known) and they said it's only worth melt value and they would pay $10.00 for it. They said it's too corroded and warn. Also, without that scratch it's not even worth anything. Very discouraged!!! I see the same dime on ebay that are slick and have been graded and people are bidding on them. They said it's way below Fine.

Melt value for a dime is way under $10! I would want to keep it If I found it anyway.

...that is not uncommon for coin shops....never sell to one until you get several offers or have it slabbed.....%99 of em are crooks

Listen to kruger and got2dig........They won't steer you wrong....................HH

As more of coin collector than a metal detectorist, I will tell you one thing, do not sell that coin for $10. Put it on eBay if you really must sell it.

Very nice find! I have been lucky enough to find a few seated myself.

finding seated coins are few and far between at least in my neck of he woods.finding an 1843o in any kind of shape is great yours looks a lot better than most i have found.i think that the value would go up in time plus you get to show it off while you wait.this would be a great addition to anyones collection. congrats on an awesome find.
