Religious artifact fragment?

Hi Guys, found this today. Not too sure on what it really is but I get the feeling the design may have had a religious meaning?

It's a shame it's not complete but would love to know what it is if anyone can help.

Thanks for the reply to Westfront, my first thoughts were that it has some decent age to it, don't know why but I just thought it was religious in some way... Probably wrong though.

I've just been looking online at similar one's from this period and they're really beautiful.
Do they come up often? This one was a first for me, I bet you have a lovely collection of them.

Yes I have a relatively good collection but they don't come up that often. They are very collectable & came from high status individuals like the Knights who had blingy horses or their immediate entourage.
Normally a good sign of hammered nearby.
