Religious Medal?

I found this a few years ago where an old catholic church once stood. I think it's made of brass and may have been plated at one time. There are no makers marks that I can find and on the back a pinback was once attached. I'm curious who would have worn it, why they would wear it, and what may have been attached to it. Was the churches name Sacred Heart by any chance ?

What is on back? Pin? Looks like top part of a medal. Sacred heart of Jesus.

I don't remember the exact name of the church as it was demolished many years ago. There is nothing on the back of the medal but you can see where there was once a pin on the back to attach it to clothing. Smokewagons.

It looks like it could have been a ladies watch pin...maybe one of the sisters from the church.
