I got tried when I go beach hunting and having to set the detector down in the sand while I dug a target, with my sand scoop and sand getting in and around the buttons on the control box, battery box etc.. I found this thing at a Cabelas sporting goods store it’s called a Fishin'Stix (see photo below). It's small enough and light enough to fit in my diggers pouch. Length collapsed is 16 inches extended 36 inches, I use mine collapsed, to set the detector on when I need to use my sand scoop with both hands. It’s works great on my AT I think it should work on any detector, the nice thing no sand in my detector, I’ve not used it for land hunting but would think it would work there also if you need to support your detector above ground. The other good thing the cost for one of these is under $3.00.
