Today I brought along my hunting partner Ryan and we hunted that dirt medium strip where I found the Walking Liberty half last weekend. I had a feeling that more coins might still be hiding there and I was right! Ryan found the first keeper with a 1944 silver nickel. About 10 minutes later I dug up a 1944-D mercury dime. Both of us had several wheat pennies and some clad as well. We were both pretty confidant that we cleaned out the medium strip so we drove over to a construction area in one of the many small parks in San Francisco. In the construction area I got a 1936-P silver quarter, a 1920's buffalo nickel, and 6 wheat pennies. It was a great day in S.F. Temp about 70 degrees, with sunny blue sky. And to top off the day we both found silver!

Any date finding silver is a good day, don't you think?

70 degrees and blue skies in San Fran??? Even if you didn't find a thing, it doesn't get any better.

Several people walked by and asked a bunch of questions. Three different Chinese people walked by and wondered what we were doing. They didn't have a clue as to what a metal detector was or how it worked. :o ::)This one Chinese lady watched me dig up a Lincoln cent and she was pretty amazed. She wanted to know where she could buy a metal detector, so I recommended Radio Shack. :tongue3:

WOW! GREAT DIGS!

Why don't you like Chinese people? Sending them to RS to buy a cheap detector is a downright mean thing to do. Ok, I'm smiling! But still.............. They probably live in the country and have plowed ancient bronze pieces and who knows what else. Should have made friends with them. Maybe they live in Nan Dan Provence where they find meteorites by the hundred weight.

You guys had a great day. Thanks for posting the pics. Pics are always great. Seems like a strange spot for finding coins. Any history on the area? I've hunted with a guy in the SF Oakland area. You have some great old spots out there. Plus your weather is much better than our 98 degrees here. Look forward to see what else you guys pull from there. :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

It's an old Recreation Center and park. Probably built in the 1920's or 1930's. It has an indoor basketball court and two baseball fields. It's in a part of San Francisco where O.J. Simpson grew up. He played quite a bit of basketball at the indoor courts there. There is a mural of him on the outside of the building and old black and white photos of him as a kid playing basket. It's a great place to hunt, so far I've taken 32 silver coins out of the place! None of the coins had any blood on them! :o
